I wouldn't really want to tag either shawls or veils.

As for the sweater tag above, I might be willing to support that. :d

Could we just tag belly dancers? Or have some sort of Arabian tag?
That would be a lot more broad...could be used for things/outfits like http://e-shuushuu.net/image/131742/ or http://e-shuushuu.net/image/379326/ .

Why not "oriental"/"orient" or something
not everything that fits under oriental comes from Arabia;
i guess genies, belly dancers and harem girls can fit under it as well as other stuff *shrug*

I was thinking of Arabian Nights.

Oriental is used for Asian things though.

Midriff might be a good compromise?

Detached sleeves wouldn't be too bad, it's just such a small thing...more input?

"midriff" or "stomach" tag sounds good as well as "detached sleeves" tag.

If we make a "sweater" tag it seems like it would be leading to create tags for all types of upper body stuff like "t-shirt" "sleeveless shirt" etc. Which I guess I'm not against, but would be a ton of work to retag all images.

Shawls or veils I usually just tag as "headdress".

I think that headdress is limited to what is worn on the head, whereas shawls or veils can be worn over the shoulders/arms.

"gift" tag, with "christmas" and "valentine" as child tags.
"writing" tag for those images with pens or pencils? I say "writing" not as an action really, but since it'd be too much trouble to add in both "pen" and "pencil". It could also be "writing utensil" I guess but it seems easier with just "writing."
"makeup" tag, which could possibly accomodate for "nail polish" as a child tag?

It doesn't hurt to have a verb in your sentences. Also merging with the tag suggestion topic since these are basically suggestions.

For the "gift" tag, why not, but I wouldn't put the "valentine" under it, it has a little bit broader meaning than just a gift I think.

I would rather have "writing instrument" or " writing tools" than just "writing".

"Makeup" is hard to tag. It would include I guess lipstick and eyeshadow. The problem is the art itself. Some artist doesn't even draw lips, but some do. If they do, it takes a rather visible hue, pinkish/redish, but it doesn't mean that it's makeup. Problem lies in the artstyle which might be leading to mix between artistic choice and what we interpret as makeup. Same could be said for eyeshadow.

Christmas? Child of gift? Valentine as well? They are both child of "holiday".
Besides that, to the TRUE meaning of both Valentine and Christmas, the gift tag wouldn't apply. And besides that (again), on Christmas, gifts don't really matter.

Suggesting a "writing" tag is like asking for a "paper" tag.

should an image contain only one single chracter dressed up as another character from a different story, be tagged as cosplay instead of crossover.

technically, a crossover image is technically characters from different series together.

Our "cosplay" tag is used to tag real life cosplays.
There is no dictionary definition for the term "crossover" in the context of anime or the art thereof.
Our definition simply relies on elements from different series overlapping. It does not matter in which form they do so.
