Kimono or yukata?

Post by tsukiko »

^-^; One thing I've noticed, many pictures tagged as "yukata" are not yukata.. so I thought I could try to provide some insight into the matter ^^

The simplest rule would be this: If it's more then one layer, it should be classified as a kimono, not a yukata. The Nagajuban (under kimono ) isn't worn with a yukata.

Got a point on the difference... since I do own a yukata myself and got a kimono for one of my friends. The way I see it, a yukata is a summer kimono or could be used as a bathrobe, but that's what I've read.

Did you even read the tag descriptions?

With lack of a better term for the shorter yukata, we designated the "kimono" tag for full length kimonos found during festivals and new years. The "yukata" tag was made for the short yukatas found at onsens and during summer.
