a lot of it is trial and error...the game mechanics are simple enough though. I've run into a few english speakers, which definitely helps. the guides/FAQs available on the web also help.

the only japanese i was able to understand in game was someone saying "konbanwa"...and i was so sad because i couldn't reply. T_T

This looks pretty cool, I might try it out now that I've finished the story in "Star Ocean Till The End Of Time".

How can you know the commands and communicate with other players if you don't know Japanese though?

yea there are lil guides that help out alot. Like the missions . .they basically follow a format, three types. You just have to look and see a number which basically means how many of an object you need to collect and then there is an area that tells you what mission room to go and do in order to obtain such item(s). It'll also tell you who you need to come back to in order to finish the mission . .all you have to do is see what characters they have for their name and find the NPC which the same characters. So . .. remember your NPCs :P. I've played alot of japanese famicom games and dreamcast ones that aren't in english of course so I've had experince with this sorta thing. As for other players . .I don't. Most people I've run into are quiet or are talking to themselves, except my interaction tends to be non vocal types. Like someone is doing a particular action and I'll mimic or take chase and they play along without any words exchanged :P. Also the fact that my name is in english could be a big run away for them ^^;;

Funny thing though is that I haven't run into any english speakers in the area I'm at . . except I've been afk sitting behind the school for a while now cause I'm cleaning my room up . putting up a new shelf and adding in a home theatre system and I come back to my screen and see some guy named Gerald said Hello ..LOL dern it I wasn't around to reply .. .just my luck >_<

heh

Anyhow I'm going to try and gather together some of the good guide stuff and also try and put my explanation of simple things. I'm still learning so don't expect much but I think every little bit helps right? I think I'll start a Yogurting Basics Thread for it though. Although by the time I actually get time to do it . . people might already have figured this stuff out since for the next 3 days I'll be working my 12 hour shift days :( I'll see about adding a few items after work tomorrow between getting home eating . .watching an anime ep or two and then playing a lil yogurting :D

amfest and me are on Harmonica server, at Yoi school. be careful when selecting servers, because the order of the three servers is random...i thought i was in Harmonica, but ended up in Castanet.

anyways, if you can read japanese text, it's ãƒ

Ah nuts, the server names all look like '?????' symbols... what did I do wrong? (I thought I enabled Eastern Asian languages...)

the program needs uni-code in order to show foreign text. by default, windows uses english only, because of our regional setting. you can set it to japanese, but future installations of other programs might set the default language to japanese.

for me, i use Applocale which you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8c4e8e0d-45d1-4d9b-b7c0-8430c1ac89ab&displaylang=en

it's a nifty program that sets the unicode individually for each program. you might want to create a shortcut using this too, so you don't have to run applocale every time.

make sure you join Yoi school, or else i can't help you with quests...not to mention it's hard to travel between schools. 150 bucks or take a hike through the sewers. x_X

Nuts... it seems the game crashes on loading after I create a character. I get a loading screen, hear a beep and then my screen is just black and my PC stops responding.

What are the graphical requirements to play this game? Because I'm trying to run it on Akari-chan, my K8MM-V, AMD Sempron 2800+ system with VIA chipset onboard graphics.

Thanks for that Applocale link though, looks pretty handy.

minimum requirements (taken from the japanese site)
PentiumIII 1GHz (though i don't know about AMD)
256 megs of ram
64 megs of video ram
2 gigabytes of hard drive space
Windows XP/2000
DirectX 9.0

Mhhh, it shouldn't have any issues with that, my AMD Sempron 2800+ is a 1,6Ghz (256L2 cache) CPU, 1GB RAM and onboard VGA VIA chipset of my MSI K8MM-V motherboard has 64MB shared memory...

Maybe it's because it's onboard VGA video, because I checked my event viewer and it is the video driver that crashes...

Bleh... I don't really feel like getting a videocard for that PC just yet, it has onboard VGA so why bother. (Although I can pick up a very decent 128MB Radeon 9250 for 40$ allready...)
