Pixiv

From Shuushuu
Jump to: navigation, search

Much like E-shuushuu is an image board for anime girls, Pixiv is an image board for art in general. One of the main differences between Shuu and Pixiv, however, is that the artists themselves are the ones posting the images on Pixiv, while images on Shuu from from a third party. Note: Pixiv is a website all in Japanese, but can still be used by speakers of other languages with a little effort and a little help.

Basic Pixiv

It is required to register if you want to use or view Pixiv, but registration is free and easy. For more information see Signing Up On Pixiv.

The website is meant for the submission of original artworks, but it is also possible to build a social network, along with following your favorite artists and bookmarking the images you love. There is a bulletin board system to post comments on others' boards for them to see, and a message system for short notes to other artists. The max message length is 10-10,000 characters long.

Pixiv holds events every now and then to celebrate different things, such as Halloween or Christmas. There are also events held to promote certain new games or animes, and a section of the website is devoted to these submissions. Pixiv also hosts some Pixiv based events such as Pixiv Trainer, which was based around Pokemon, or Pixiv Fantasia, in which artists come up with original characters to participate in a fantasy.
