I don't have a Windows on hand to try, but here are a few standard GUI sorting behaviour.

If you use big icon/grid view, right click in the window and check the "sort by" menu.

If you use detail/list view, then just click on the header of the filename column. Click again to reverse the sort.

There needs to be a "deleted messages" folder thing just in case a message is accidentally deleted. And because each message is "brand new" (with not even the original message below the reply like e-mails and other PMs), it makes it more complicated. :/ Seems fair, but as the PM options seems prett...
