Personally, I think there's just a big misconception of mental illness in general, so people jump the gun and automatically assume that's the case. That could be a factor, I'm sure, but.. I think they're just young and it's 'hip & trendy' on the net, especially sites like Tumblr. Fictional characters offer us anime fans escapism. We create art, we write stories, we hyper focus on our favorites because we either relate to them, or appreciate them in other ways. I love BRS, I love Silver, I love Gretel, I love all kinds of characters, but I'd rather be me, even if some parts of me aren't so great. Appreciating characters is one thing, but there comes a time where you have to learn to love yourself for who you are and accept you aren't Uchiha Sasuke. We live, we learn, and we need to acknowledge which behaviors are healthy and which ones aren't. On the other hand, they'll probably grow out of it and as long as they aren't bothering me, I will leave them be. /endrant
