Iam from country X, ask me anything!

Post by -Ninetails- »

Do you want to know more about other countries than your own?
Then this is your Thread!

If we want to live in a peaceful world, we need to dispose ourselves from prejudices and learn more about people in different countries and parts of the world :)

Rules:
1. Ask someone from a country anything what you want.
2. Tell us where you are from :)
3. Be prepared to answer questions about your country.

I will start:
Iam from Germany, ask me anything!

I don't drink Vodka, haha. x'D
I don't want to answer to second question because...

When it comes to history, politics and such, I can sound sort of hateful.

Don't want that.

Is it true that people from Germany have cold attitude? It's something I heard.

When you are ~6 years old, you go to elementary school. Thats class 1-4.
Afther that you can choose, there are different schools:

(I tried to translate the School names xD)
"Gymnasium": If you have the best grades and maybe want to go to Univesity if you are older. Class 5-10 and then 11-13 for "Abitur". With "Abitur" you can go to the University.
"Real School": You have good grades but will probably work after school. Class 5-10.
"Main School": You have regular/bad grades and will work after school as normal guy. Class5-10.
"Special School": You dont fit with the rest. This is were the difficult kids go. Class 5-10

Every school has its own "acquisition".
From every school you can go to the better one.
I know a guy who has been to Special, then Main, then Real, then Abitur and now he is at the University with me :D

Maybe a bit complicated...but best part:
University is for free in Germany. Not like in the USA for example, where it costs much money.
Okay...there are some Private-Universities that cost money. But not many and they are not the best.

I apologize for intruding, but isn't this topic supposed to be a game?
It appears everyone is chatting freely rather than actually playing the game created.

There should be a consistency in forum games, as in, keep the game going.

If you'd like people to ask you questions, -Ninetails-, you may create an ask.fm account so others may ask you questions there. If not, you can have users PM you.

By the way, there's a thread for this already viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1024

There's no need for a similar topic.
The "ask me anything" has potential to be a forum game, but there's already a similar game here.

No problem, history is difficult in some countries.
Maybe the Stalin question was not fair, iam sorry.

Yes some say germans are cold. I could understand why.
The german language sounds hard in comparison to other languages and germans are very direct.
A german tells a german often what he thinks directly, without much fuzz around it.
Maybe this looks very cold from the outside...i dont know.
In Germany the people are not as nice to strangers as maybe swedish people and not as open as i would guess an american is.
But if you know some germans better, you can see they are not cold. At least thats what i think.
We are humans like everyone else :D We love, we hate, we have feelings like you too :D
And if you look at old german poetry, like Goethe or Schiller, you can see that there is much emotion to find in germany - if you look for it.

So my question to Sara:
Russia is such a gigantiv country. Have you ever travelled from one end to the other?
And what is a Russian breakfast for you?

I would gladly continue answering and asking questions, but after reading what Emii said, I'm not sure is it allowed.

Well, I'm unsure of the purpose of this... thread.

Though if there is to be a thread for free chatting.... that's not happening. There's the IRC chat for that.

On topic:
On a more personal level of interest. (there is text, just highlight the next part)

Since you're from Germany, tell me your thoughts on this... 'Islamic' 'revolt' or whatever it's called. Opinions are welcome, regardless of their positivity or negativity. Personally, I dislike the very thought of people not going by the phrase "When in Rome, you do as Romans do." From that, I presume you can clearly identify my thoughts on this subject and these 'Islamic' people.
On another note, how did you feel when Germany won the World Cup? If you're a football fan, that is.

I'm from Romania, ask me anything!

I edited the first post and made some rules more clear.
This should not be a simple "Iam from X" thread and not a simple "Ask me anything" Thread. It is something new, I have seen in other forums.
As long as no admin or mod says this should stop we can continue.

I watched the games and it was fun to see. Football is the biggest sport in Germany and in every village there is a football ground. The thing is, there were also people who said that during the world championship there were to many flags outside and stuff. Patriotism is a difficult topic in Germany because of our history. Many are proud that we have won, but after the games you will not see many German flags in Germany.

Coming from Romania, what do you think about the European Union?

A miracle happened, that's what. This country has its perks, however it has many downsides. The best thing about the EU, is the ruling out of passports @ Schengen Area. We ain't in it, of course. However, it's all nice after you enter Hungary.
In other words, travel in Europe made easy.
