Music recommendations

Post by Crimson_Camelia »

I actually thought few times already about creating a new thread like this.
I observed that in the "Ask person below a question" topic on our forums, the question about music (currently listened song, song recommendation, what you're listening when you're feeling down etc.) is pretty frequent, so I though that creating a separate place for this could be useful.

TL;DR This topic is a place where you can recommend other users your favourite songs, songs that you listened recently and loved, covers of songs, and so on.

If possible, avoid songs with explicit lyrics/video, and if you feel like you need to share it, please at least post warning for users.

As a thread creator, I might want to start with few recommendations from me.

English:
Aurora - Runaway
Amber Run - I found (*nothing really graphic, but music video tells the story of kidnapping - just so you are aware)
Celtic Woman - Tír na nÓg
Social Repose - Island of yours (*there is - non graphically showed though - self-harm at one point of music video)
The Eden Project - XO, and that cover response
Nouvelle Vague - Master and Servant (*lyrics tell about BDSM-based kind of relationship)

Non-English:
FAUN - Walpurgisnacht
FAUN - Blaue Stunde
Maryla Rodowicz - Łatwopalni
Leśne Licho - Topielica
Anna Terpiłowska - Wilcza Zamieć (The Witcher 3 insert song)
Freyja.sys cover
Splin - Romans

I'm pretty self conscious about my music, but I'll try a few since I did it in the other thread I guess.

The first three from the other thread:

- Metallica: No Leaf Clover

- WILDES: Bare

Lucia: Silence

And here's some new stuff:
- Lera Lynn: The Only Thing Worth Fighting For

- Theatre of Tragedy: .. A Distance There Is
TOT is one of my favorite bands, before their pop-electrical phase *Sighs at their Assembly album*

- Metallica: Nothing Else Matters

- Sisters of Mercy: Something Fast

- Josh Tarp: Glory

- Marilyn Manson: Warship my Wreck [won't link due to tones and lyrics]

- Nosferatu: The Haunting

- ELO: Ticket to the Moon

- Bob Seger: Turn the Page

- David Draiman: Forsaken

- Twenty øne Pilots: Heathens
Not something I usually listen to, but I like this song a lot.
I also have some songs in Finnish, but I'm not sure we have a lot of Finnish users, however, I can share a few if people are interested. Dunno.

Next list will have more of my metal recs if I post in here again.

I'll be checking the first two lists out this weekend since I'm always looking for new music.

Yay, music thread~ (*^▽^*)
I wanted to reply to this thread as soon as I saw it, but it took me a while... could not make up my mind on what to pick @_@ And I'm kinda self-conscious about music I like too, so you're not alone with this, Aizawa. ;^;
(And, I'm gonna say, I listened to several songs linked in this thread, and liked a bunch of them.)

So here's a mix of my old, old-ish and new favourite songs, in no particular order...

alt-J - Hunger of the Pine (video is slightly bloody)
Grimes - REALiTi (i like this version much more than the album one ;;)
Porter Robinson - Flicker
The Mars Volta - Cicatriz ESP (really wanted to link something from Frances the Mute... but my favourite tracks on this album are hella long and have kinda morbid lyrics)
Nine Inch Nails - La Mer
Apparat - Goodbye
God Is An Astronaut - Suicide by Star
Mogwai - Remurdered
Fever Ray - Triangle Walks
Fever Ray - I'm Not Done (that whole album is so good ;v;)
Apparat - Not a Good Place
The Birthday Massacre - The Dream
Muse - Citizen Erased
The Glitch Mob - Fortune Days
Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (long, yes. but worth it imo)

That is not nearly all songs I consider favourites, but I don't want to post hundreds of links in this single post, so this is all for now

I guess this thread might be filled with people self-concious about their music tastes, because this is similar for me (^^;
I myself actually linked to only those from my favourite songs that I know were well-received by people or I recommended them to someone before and was said they were good.

I listened to songs recommended by you and enjoyed very much majority of them, so I am glad I created this thread.

Aizawa, I would love to hear those Finnish songs, so if you still want to recommend them, please do <3 It's true that I usually stick to languages I at least partially understand (and Finnish is not one of them), but I also enjoy hearing music from various countries in various languages.

Some more recommendations from me, I guess:

Cover of Kalafina's "Oblivious" (I may actually like it more than original version)
Halou - Honeythief
Digital Daggers - Still Here
Get Scared - Sarcasm (lyrics are pretty gory though, so I won't link it)
Vocal cover of "The Meaning of His Tears" from OFF
Erutan - Willow Maid
KE - Narcolepsy
Celtic Women - The Voice

I've listened to everything you guys recommended and I can say that I like pretty much everything, but special mention to those two songs by FAUN that Camelia linked. Very much appreciated. <3
I'll post some more and fix my earlier post soon, too.
I actually don't watch music videos, just download right away, so I can't tell you if video is safe or not, sorry. ;;
Thomas Bergesen - Fearless (almost everything by Thomas Bergesen, really. But this one is my favorite)
Little Dragon - Twice (LSB Remix)
30 seconds to mars - A beautiful lie
Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children - The Promised Land
A Perfect Circle - The Noose
Christopher Tin - Temen Oblak (Dark Clouds)
EarlyRise - Narcissistic Cannibal (Korn Cover) (I prefer this to the original)
That's about it for now. ^^

Omg this is the first time I've seen someone recommend Honeythief, it's my favourite English song!

And I'll like to recommend Asymmetry by Negoto , it's a really catchy song.

My. .. I've been listening to everything here finally, and I have to say, I definitely went on spree and enjoyed finding new music since I've been craving –desperately so, some new tunes. .. music is a very important part of my life. I still strum my guitar from time to time.

Here's a new rec list. I can't promise you guys will like these, but I felt they were nice and wanted to share.

Metallica - Welcome Home

Mazzy Star - Into Dust

Liv Kristine and Michelle Darkness - Love Decay

KoRn - Hater
I suspect this was very slightly sped up, but the official music video is a bit violent despite non-violent lyrics. Oo'

Chelsea Wolfe - Carrion Flowers

Liv Kristine - Hunters

Nuttin' but Stringz - Broken Sorrow

Enjoy or not, sugahs. ;]

I want to share a band called Infected Mushroom. It's sort of electronica. I think. I've never been very good at classifying music.

I guess this would be a good place to start, this music video: If you're interested here is some more I like: If you listened please tell me what you think!

Finally decided to sit down and go through suggestions.
A few artists I already knew, but so far I found several songs that I enjoyed to the point that I added them to my own library, which is always a joy >w<
Best thing is I'm not even halfway through the thread.

While I'm still going through the posts, I'll post a selection of songs that I like
I want to post some super bubbly stuff too, but those will probably come sometime in the future.

THEY. - Say when || Rap, has some profanity
Of Monsters And Men - Wolves Without Teeth
Dropout - Hollywood Horror || trap. never mentioned directly, but it's pretty obvious the song is about drug abuse changing somebody. thought I'd mention it as a warning, just in case
TeZATalks - Love ft. Kody Ryan || TeZATalks is a recent favourite of mine, so if you enjoyed this, maybe check her other stuff out. She's still a relatively new artist
Chris Loco - Ego Feat. Raye || video contains a male, naked from the waist-up. Nothing graphic imo, but you never know.
Boy Epic - Kanye's In My Head
KNGDAVD - POPPIES
Jagga - Love Song || careful with this one, there are scenes of people making out and domestic abuse
Oski - Tell Her

that would be all from me for now -w-
i'm going back up to check what other little treats you peeps recommended <3

What, in your opinion, is the single most beautiful song ever made?

I'll be saving it for further listening when I get home
