Introduction and Questions

Post by FGarcia »

Hello e-shuushuu,

I am FGarcia, a guy whose interests range from classical music to classic rock, from action movies to self-help books, from programming languages to playing first person shooters, from watching team sports to Mario games, from mathematics to linguistics, from ethnic groups to theological discussion, and from classic cartoons to eating enchiladas y pupusas. I strive to be a good everyday person, remembering my background, heritage, family, and religion.

But I guess I just have a soft spot for cute things like the stuff shown in e-shuushuu. I won't hide that my masculinity is reduced out of things like those, and I'm a little ashamed to share the site with friends and family. However, my hope is to make contributions to the website, where nice pictures can have a permanent home in a site where moe is focused yet is arguably family friendly and accessible to peoples of all ages (similar sites often have pornographic images). I have already uploaded four images, and after doing that determined to upload more as there are so many lovely images you see on other sites like Pininterest. I will be focusing on uploading mainly Pokémon images, particularly Amourshipping (Ash x Serena, or Satosere in Japan), but I likely may upload images from other works as well.

Now I have a lot of questions to ask. They involve what this site is really about, and the things I can and can't do when uploading images.

1. What is e-shuushuu? What is its purpose? Where is it based on?
2. What is the history behind e-shuushuu? Who is the founder of the website?
3. Who is currently in charge of e-shuushuu right now?
4. What are the duties of moderators and admins? What can and can't they do when it comes to both images and the forum?
5. If I'm not mistaken, the girl shown in the background of the website looks like Mitsuki of the anime Full Moon. Is she like a mascot of the website or something?
6. Similarly, the girl at the top banner of the forums seems to be Tsuruya of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Any reason why she was selected?
7. Do you think e-shuushuu should have an introduction page? I think it would be helpful for those who are unfamiliar with this website and make them feel welcome.

8. Suppose that I want to upload an image, and I'm not sure who the author/artist is, even after attempting to find him/her. What can be done about that?
9. Is permission of the artist/author required for their works to be uploaded to this website?
10. Where can we find a list of subject tags? This would be helpful for reference when uploading an image. EDIT: Found them, no need to answer that anymore. However, a definition for every tag would be helpful.
11. Am I allowed to add tags to old images where tags appear to be missing?
12. Why are certain tags/terms in Japanese? Wouldn't it be easier for English-speaking viewers if the Japanese tags were in English?
13. How can we know if an image is sexually suggestive? What if there is disagreement on whether or not an image is safe to stay in the website?
14. Why are we not allowed to comment on old image uploads?

15. Suppose I want to volunteer in maintaining and taking care of the website. What is required of me to join the staff, if they're looking for anyone?
16. Are you guys able to maintain this place financial wise? It seems that no one has donated to the site in a long time.

Thanks!

Don't worry, there are plenty of male users here so you aren't alone [I am a male myself, haha]. Welcome to the site. I will do my best to answer some of your questions and anyone else is free to chime in. Well, I have to say I'm big in rock music myself, and I'm big on Pokemon too [Kalosshipping, hehe]. Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the site. We are a pretty tight, loving community for the most part.

1- E-shuushuu is an imageboard, focusing on cute images of girls. Kinda like Zerochan, Danbooru, Yande.re, ect with our own rules.

2 - Anonymous_obect is the founder. There's a background [with rules] page here. I've only been around since reaaaally late '11, so maybe an older user could explain it more in-depth if needed.

3 - Admin wise, Anonymous_object and Evangeline McDowell. They will appear with green names to indicate they are admins. But the site has an entire staff of moderators and taggers to maintain the site and keep it organized in a way. Mods have red names, taggers orange.

4 - Mods review and disable images and make sure users are behaving and stuff. They do a loooot. I'll let a mod come and explain it since I can't speak for the way the mod team runs.

5 - Anonymous was a big fan of the character iirc. I believe the 'mascot' is the girl in the ad on the left side of the screen. Her name is 'Shuu-tan'.

6 - There are actually several banners in the database. They can change when you refresh the page after a bit or leave to a new page on the site.

7 - There is an introduction page here
- viewtopic.php?f=6&t=222

8 - I recommend Saucenao or a reverse image search. You can drop a link to the artist in the metedata section and a tagger or mod can add it for you. It happens sometimes.

9 - Generally no, if an artist wants their work here removed they need to express it to the admin or a mod and the images will be disabled immediately.

10 - Useful links about tags can be found here
- http://e-shuushuu.net/about/tags/

11 - Unless they are yours, no. You CAN however send a report under missing tag information [orange ! Button]. A tagger will add it for you.

12 - There are English aliases to Japanese theme tags for the most part.

13 - Images are jugded case by case, but nipples, genitals, clear lingerie are a huge no-no. Focus and atmosphere also play a role. But I'll let a mod explain that part since I don't feel comfortable speaking for the moderator team.

14 - It can make moderating and watching comments harder iirc. You can also be missed if it is a comment pointing out missing tags [then you should send a report].

15 - This is a bit of a process and can vary and takes a bit of time. Taggers for the most part need to know how to romanize artist names, need to know how the tags work, and know how to properly tag images.

16 - I can say personally the donation table is definitely out dated and needs updating, but this is a question for Anonymous.

Kiss and tell, isn't it far from here to hell?

Aizawa, love, on 6 he is asking about the forums, not the main board :P
Some other answers I have some info of and could add up to:

1: I'm not sure where the server is located, if that's what you mean by "where is it based on", but websites that gather and show information about websites don't seem to have that sort of info too.
The website is registered in the USA tho.

16: The app appears to be broken, so we can't say for sure if donations are sent in, I guess only the admins can. I have donated once and the donation section didn't register it at all.
With that being said, I think I'll go donate again
