I prefer the geek title myself. (A badge I wear with honor at that. ^^ ) And as for the difference, my personal opinion is that nerds and geeks are pretty much the same in terms of interests and whatnot, but geeks are not as socially inept as nerds.Forsaken-_- wrote:Even thougt i don't know what's the difference between nerds and geeks
I like Urban Dictionary's second definition.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=geek
Also the helpful little table further down the page. XD...
The term now enjoys a special status within the technical community, particularly among particularly knowledgable computer programmers. To identify oneself as a "geek" indicates a recognition that most people still consider programming computers to be a bizarre act, along with a certain fierce satisfaction in being very good at their inglorious profession.
That most software geeks now easily earn twice as much as the average laborer just sweetens their defiant embrace of the term.
Note: Unlike the word "nerd," which is always pejorative, "geek" often carries a positive connotation when used by one of the group. The use of the term by outsiders is considered insulting.
*goes back to his programming*................ Technical ...... Social
Title ............ Skills ......... Skills
---------- ---------------- ------------
Normie ......... No ............. Yes
Geek ........... Yes ............. Yes
Nerd ............ Yes ............. No
Dork ............ No .............. No

This table deserves a poster. By the way, I fall somewhere between "Normie" and "Geek" ("Gormie"?)

Hi. I'm a nerd.
Anyway, I'm Zeether, and I like anime, but I also like doujin soft games like Touhou and shmups (shoot-em-ups) like Gradius, Raiden, Dodonpachi, etc.
I also like racing games, especially drift racing because it reminds me of one of my favorite anime, Initial D.
Oh, and I like MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000). For those who don't know, it was a show where this guy and a couple of robots sat down and made fun of really bad movies. It's not on anymore but there's still quite a fanbase for it because of its concept.
