Why do we still have the image rating feature? oO

Post by canis »

It's hardly used.
And when it is used it's mostly a 5/5.

If you like the pic people might give it a 5/5.
If it is average or bad they don't even bother to rate it, so there is no actual point in this system anyway.

(I guess it was used more often in times where there were not that many new pictures daily)

if you'd like I could go through and rate every image :P

it only takes a few to start it and it might contiune. It could be useful in seeing what the users of the site think are the best pics. Then you can use the rating sort. but yea most people will just save what they like and/or add it to their favorites.

I was trying to use the image rating system and there is one thing that really annoys me. After you click submit the whole page reloads. Is there anyway to have it send but not refresh the whole page Anony. It would make it a bit more desirable to go thorugh images and rate them. As it stands it's way too bothersome to even attempt. Maybe we can hit submit ad some code would just take away the submit button showing we already sent a rating but not refresh the whole page so we can move on to the next image to read comments and such.

I agree with amfest, more people (than 0) would use the rating system.

Hi! I'm back on the forums after a short hiatus!

What I also find a little annoying is when someone rates an average or below-average pic a 5, cuz they especially like it for personal tastes, but anyone else looking at it would vote it a 2 or 3 (one idea for this would be for the rest of us to vote it down with a lower rating if anyone sees a pic that they disagree with the current rating; thereby, lowering the overall average rating of the pic... but that'd be asking alot).
It's g*dd@mn cold here in Canada....!

Just wondering... how are ratings calculated? Are they averaged out? Perhaps we could have a new link at the side bar like 'Top 100' or 'Best Gallery'.

And then..... Just an idea but, maybe you earn points for users rating your picts... which you could spend on...hmm... say do something you normally can't do (view/download a disabled image for instance or upgrade your viewing capacity from 15 images to 20 images per page). Just something to encourage use of the rating system XD.
