Basic Information

Vocaloid is a vocal-synthesizing software that enables song writers to generate singing on their computer by typing in the lyrics and music notes of the composition. The program is best known for its mascots, multiple characters in both male and female form. There are two versions of Vocaloid, an earlier and a later. Each Japanese Vocaloid is given an anime-type character with specifications on age, height, weight and musical forte. The characters of the first three installments of the series (Miku, Rin and Len) were designed by illustrator KEI.

There spin-off series, including light novels and manga, as well as many fanmade doujinshi.
